Timberline Lodge: A Unique Perspective

Here are some photos from Mt. Hood and Timberline Lodge. The reason I wanted to share my photos with you are for historical purposes as well as beauty. This lodge was built during the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Era when he created the WPA ( Public Works Program). During the depression of the 1930’s many people found jobs through his back to work initiatives. Government can do good things as this program created eight million jobs. Many were for unskilled work, but I think it is possible we might could take some lessons from this and figure out how to help America in our current climate creating jobs. My family and I spent a lovely time up here. This is about 3 hours from Seattle. We spent a whole week there. It was very enjoyable. I try to bring in a personal touch with mine by sharing something special about each photo when I can. Thank you . : )

I love to share my photos with the history that goes behind them. This is an absolutely beautiful place. It is definitely a place worth going to see if you are ever in Oregon. I love that we are close enough to go see such a spectacular place.

Great pics! I completely agree with you on all the benefits of the WPA. For one thing, people who did these projects always had something they could look back on an say, “I built that!”. Many of the bridges built during the WPA period are still standing.

Welfare doesn’t give you a sense of pride…work does.

It is worth the drive I believe, but we only live 3 hours away. I am going to post the waterfalls we saw in that area along the Columbia river in another post. Another option is checking out the wineries. Thx for stopping by!

We spent a week there, but we saw other things on this trip and just rested too! WE went up 3 days to this area and than spent time see the waterfalls and the columbia river and hiking in those areas..It was relaxing because we had a condo that was really nice through our timeshare program…I love to take photos of places i go to so it is neat to share them with you guys that follow me!
