Do not let this title catch you off guard! The lady does exist as a boat and the mysteries are real. Recently on one of my many trips to eastern Washington, I went on an all day excursion on a voyage to the head of Lake Chelan.
Let me give you perspective of the mysteries of Lake Chelan. If you stood atop of the Pyramid Peak (8245 ft), overlooking Lake Chelan, and walked three miles straight out, due east, and looked to the bottom of Lucerne Basin (386 ft below sea level), you’d be looking in the deepest gorge in North America. Obviously this chasm is difficult to view, but no less stunning.
In the early days of settlers to this area, dreams were similar to the Gold Rush. These fantasies vanished quickly though, and the Lake became more known for its intense natural beauty that brought tourists from far and wide. Lake Chelan is not only spectacular, but pristine because no roads even to this day have been built to reach the beautiful town of Stehekin.
As you travel on the lady, you will see desert mountains that turn to forests. You will also feel the weather change through the rough terrain with a drop of a hat as climate changes are felt from the lower part of Lake Chelan where one begins the journey through the hills that finally take you through the deepness of the Cascade Mountain Range. Along the way, Mother Nature treats you to views only painted by the eyes of famous artists to the degree of the beauty that are so well deserved of this area.
There are also very rough patches of mountain peaks that make your jaw drop from its sheer enormity that probably can not be viewed anywhere else in the world. This experience can be seen through my photos, but to live it is oh so much more worth it. I hope my words put a desire in your heart to come to the Lady and see the mysteries she will bestow upon you…
